@NElmqvist @MattiasArvola @professorBodker @ProfessorHook The best part of this is we gathered plenty of resources for the rebuttal to include in future pubs. (Of course the reviewers didn’t care) 🔄 0 👍 0 Original URL

@NElmqvist @MattiasArvola @professorBodker @ProfessorHook I’m not so sure we say it’s hard to avoid such bias and leave it at that. It’s disappointing that a colleague at an academic conference, regardless of native culture, would believe that peoples’ race has no effect on their life experiences. @MattiasArvola @NElmqvist @professorBodker @ProfessorHook It’s not about the reviewer not understanding work within an “underprivileged” community and more about the ignorance of US structural racism. See https://placesjournal.org/article/the-third-rail/ to see how purposefully bad a city like Baltimore was designed to be. 🔄 2 👍 5 Original URL

@NElmqvist It’s #CHI2020 . I mentioned it publicly in Dec/Jan but no one seemed interested and I always feel like I’m fighting windmills. With all that is happening in the US (and why), it seemed as good a time as any to bring it back up and remind all of us that academia isn’t immune. 🔄 0 👍 12 Original URL
