I was telling my class on Monday that my first computer I bought cost $1000 in 1990 and I added a $300 CD-ROM drive later with money I saved working at a supermarket.

They pointed out that’s about $2500 today. Spending that today gets you a pretty nice computer (but no cd-rom)
